What to Pack

What should a camper pack?
Even though our counselors take great care of each child, it is inevitable that some items of clothing or equipment will be misplaced during the camp week. Proper identification will greatly assist camp staff in returning these articles to the proper camper. Please inventory every article taken to camp and attach the list to the inside of the suitcase. Mark each item clearly with your child’s full name or initials, including the clothing they wear to camp. Camp will not assume responsibility for lost articles so please do not bring items of considerable monetary or sentimental value to camp. Please label each piece of luggage clearly with camper’s name and city where they will be dropped off.
The following items are recommended for camp:
2 Sweat shirts or sweaters
3 Shirts
1 Large Beach Towel
2 or 3 Pairs of Pants
2 or 3 Pairs of Shorts
1 Raincoat or Poncho
1 Set of dress clothes for the Banquet
1 Pair of Pajamas
1 Hat to shield the sun
7 days of Socks & Underwear
2 Pair of running shoes
1 Pair of Rubber Boots

Sheet and sleeping bag or blankets 1 Pillow and case 1 Set of Toiletries
1 Towel and face cloth
1 Box of Tissue
1 Insect Repellant
1 Sunblock (at least #15)
A Bible

Also, if desired, campers may bring:
1 Set of writing paper, pen/pencil, stamped envelopes, Fishing gear, musical instrument

Do you have a dress code?
The Board of Directors at Camp Aush-Bik-Koong has adopted the following dress code as camp policy. Thank you for taking the time to ensure that your child’s clothing conforms to these standards. God’s Word teaches that we are to dress modestly (1 Tim. 2:9, 1 Cor. 12:23), and that we should act in ways that would not cause a brother or sister in Christ to stumble (1 Cor. 10:32). Because of this, we ask that both campers and staff dress modestly in the following ways:

Bathing Attire: Girls, please wear modest one piece bathing suits. Two-piece swim suits are permitted when covered by a long, dark T-shirt. Guys, wear shorts-style bathing suits; please, no speedos.

Daily Attire: Pants/shorts/skirts that are skin-tight or too short are not permitted. Shirts must be modest and cover the torso (ie. Halter tops/cropped shirts/shirts that ride up, one-strap tank tops, and spaghetti strap shirts are not appropriate at camp. Shirts that refer to or advocate drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or that contain offensive words or symbols are not permitted at camp.

We reserve the right to ask a staff or camper to change if we feel his/her clothing is inappropriate. Our desire with this clothing policy is to honour scriptural guidelines, and remove distractions that would hinder camp’s purpose and goals.

Is there anything campers are not allowed to bring?
Please ensure that the following items are NOT brought to camp:
-Electronic devices…including video games, cell phones, pagers, computers, walkmans/Discmans/mp3 players, etc.
-Weapons
-Snack Food (Campers are well fed at ABK, and we have a Tuck shop that is open daily for them to purchase snacks)
-GUM!!!!
-Tobacco products, alcohol or illegal/illicit drugs
